The Week Ahead
(June 10, 2019)

Licensees should not expect to see the new release of Washington State’s version of MJ Freeway’s Leaf Data Systems this week.

Here’s a look at the week ahead.

TODAY: Licensees should expect to receive an official email from WSLCB describing a revised launch schedule for Washington State’s version of MJ Freeway’s Leaf Data Systems. Do not expect to see the launch this week.

Last week, we described the schedule of preparations leading up to the planned launch of a new version of the State’s traceability system – the information backbone of the I-502 marketplace. Last Tuesday afternoon, after the first night of attempted data migrations in the live production environment, the WSLCB sent a notice announcing Thursday’s planned launch was canceled. The agency did not offer a new target date at that time.

No additional details were forthcoming from the agency until Thursday’s integrator work session (agenda, slidedeck, official notes, webinar recording). The agency confirmed MJ Freeway encountered unanticipated data issues in the production environment and WSLCB CIO Mary Mueller made the call to postpone the launch. Mueller and WSLCB Deputy Project Manager Neil Smith said the earliest the launch could be rescheduled was June 20th or 21st, and would not occur the following week of June 24th-28th due to the agency headquarters move.

TUESDAY: On Tuesday June 11th at 10am PT @ WSLCB, the weekly Board Caucus recurs.

WEDNESDAY: On Wednesday June 12th at 10am PT @ WSLCB, the bi-weekly Board Meeting is scheduled to recur, but will likely be canceled.

On Wednesday June 12th at 1:30pm PT @ WSLCB, the three-member Board and agency leadership convene their weekly Executive Management Team meeting, currently on a bi-weekly cadence.

THURSDAY: On Thursday June 13th at 10am PT @ WSLCB, the Marijuana Traceability Project (MTP) Integrator Work Session recurs, currently meeting every week. This is not a formal public meeting, but is open to interested parties. Meetings with the third-party software providers have been shifted back to a weekly cadence until the successful launch of the revised traceability system.

On Thursday June 13th at 1:30pm PT @ WSLCB, the Marijuana Traceability Project (MTP) Advisory Committee Meeting may recur, currently meeting every other month. This is not a formal public meeting, but is open to the public. At the last Traceability Advisory Committee meeting on May 9th, participants agreed to begin meeting every other month rather than monthly. In my role as a member of the committee, I have asked that we meet this month to discuss MJ Freeway’s latest missed deadline and the schedule for the upgrade of the agency’s open data portal.
