The WSLCB planned to undertake emergency rulemaking in response to the Washington State Board of Health emergency rulemaking banning “flavored vapor products.”
Here’s a look at cannabis-related policymaking events on our calendars in the week ahead.
Tuesday October 15th
On Tuesday at 10am PT @ the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB), the weekly Board Caucus recurs.
Wednesday October 16th
On Wednesday at 10am PT @ WSLCB, the bi-weekly Board Meeting recurs. We expect to see at least two subjects presented for emergency rulemaking by the Board:
- Vapor Product Warning Signs. During the October 8th Board Caucus, WSLCB Deputy Director Megan Duffy said the Board would “take up consideration” of an emergency rule requiring display of vapor product warning signs on October 16th. The warning sign was drafted in early September, published to all licensees on September 27th, and revised again on Friday October 11th (en español) in an after hours communication to all licensees.
- Cannabis Product Ingredient Disclosure. During the October 9th Washington State Board of Health (SBOH) Board Meeting, WSLCB Public Health Education Liaison Sara Cooley Broschart said the WSLCB Board would adopt emergency rulemaking regarding product disclosure on October 16th. Additional emergency rulemaking may or may not be contingent on WSLCB’s launch of a web form to gather cannabis product information, work mentioned in the agency’s communication with licensees on September 27th.

On Wednesday at 1:30pm PT @ WSLCB, the three-member Board and agency leadership convene their weekly Executive Management Team (EMT) meeting.
Friday October 18th
On Friday at 9am PT @ the Department of Ecology (DOE), the Cannabis Science Task Force (CSTF) Steering Committee meets for the third time [ agenda ]. The CSTF met earlier on August 21st and September 27th.
