WSLCB - 2025-26 - Agency Request Legislation - DOH Data Sharing

The proposal is a request to add language into RCW 69.51A.230(1) to mirror language that provides the WA State Department of Revenue information sharing with the WA State Department of Health for tax exemption verification purposes. During the 2024 legislative session HB 1453 passed the legislature, which provides for a 37% excise tax exemption for medical cannabis patients under specific conditions. The Liquor and Cannabis Board oversees all cannabis excise tax collection, and HB 1453 did not address a statutory provision necessary to verify tax exemptions under RCW 69.50.535.
