New Enforcement officers were sworn in before public comments requesting cannabis curbside service and challenges for licensees.
Here are some observations from the June 13th Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) Board Meeting.
My top 3 takeaways:
- WSLCB Enforcement Chief Justin Nordhorn swore in new WSLCB Enforcement officers (audio).
- Officer Rachel Black joined the Region 1 Retail Unit.
- Officers Ashley Golden and George Mars joined the Federal Way office, with Mars joining the Enforcement team.
- Officer Tyler Thomas joined the Region 2 Mountlake Terrace office.
- Public request for curbside cannabis service (audio).
- In a public hearing on curbside beer and wine service, advocate Don Skakie encouraged WSLCB to add cannabis curbside service to assist customers with mobility restrictions should the policy prove successful for alcohol.
- Licensees offered concerns and assistance during public comments.
- Anthony Ives, a Tier 2 producer/processor representing Sound Artisan Growing Ethics (SAGE) spoke about fee increases on licensees, ongoing traceability problems, publicly available sales data harming business competition, and updating Washington Administrative Code (WAC) language on state websites. He was also grateful for board consideration of a demographic study (audio).
- Anne Sulton, owner of Olympia retailer “A Bud and Leaf” explained her store was losing it’s lease and relocating, but her significant experience could help develop minority and women involvement in Washington’s cannabis industry, and looked forward to helping the WSLCB put together a national model on the issue (audio).
