As WSLCB prepared to allow minors on licensed business premises, City of Lynnwood officials would receive a visit from their state legislator about their intention to open up to cannabis retail.

Discussion between the board and staff touched on a cannabis market study, future agency request legislation, social equity, licensing delays, research data, and legislative implementation.

Cannabis policymaking fell off a precipice in the wake of the legislative session and WSLCB “board efficiencies,” but Lynnwood officials would persevere to open the city to retail.

Legislators appeared in no hurry to consider cannabis-related bills from the opposite house but regulatory bodies planned to provide updates and signal research directions.

As the legislature raced ahead, other entities would be addressing product samples, medical cannabis, the retail ban in Lynnwood, and a new ethics policy at WSLCB.

Four retail allotments were on the table as Lynnwood City Council members began discussion of their jurisdictional ban on cannabis businesses in place since June 2015.
