- The full social equity task force last convened on April 26th to debate and adopt final recommendations from the Licensing and Community Reinvestment work groups.
- The agenda for the meeting on Tuesday indicated members would convene for two primary purposes: to elect a new co-chair and hear from staff at the Washington State Department of Commerce (WA Commerce).
- Following the resignation of task force co-chair Paula Sardinas in early 2021, no effort was made to elect a new co-chair. Sardinas’ departure was briefly mentioned at the start of the task force meeting in May 2021.
- WA Commerce staff planned to present their work on a Technical Assistance Mentorship Program.
- The agenda did not include time for a formal public comment period, but the emailed announcement from task force staff solicited comments in advance:
- “Due to the June 28th shortened meeting there WILL NOT BE AN ORAL PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD. However, The Dept of Commerce has produced a written update (here) and would like for you to participate by submitting written public comment to healthequity@sboh.wa.gov prior to the meeting in order to be discussed during the meeting. Your participation is extremely valuable and will be highly considered as the Dept of Commerce continues to roll out their Technical Assistance and Mentorship program.”
- On Friday June 24th, WA Commerce staff announced a new request for proposals (RFP) for “a consultant to develop a community reinvestment plan” to operationalize the distribution of the $200M community reinvestment grant written into SB 5693, the 2022 supplemental operating budget.
