WA Hemp in Food Task Force - Meeting
On Wednesday at 1pm PT, the Washington State Hemp in Food Task Force (WA Hemp in Food Task Force) was scheduled to convene.
- [ Event Details ]
- The task force last convened on October 26th, five days ahead of their deadline to put forward recommendations regarding the allowance of hemp cannabinoids in foods, beverages, and dietary supplements to Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) staff. At that time, members were not able to achieve consensus on safe concentration limits for cannabinoids and resolved to meet again as a work group.
- WSDA staff composed a draft of the legislative report which was distributed to task force members on November 9th. It did not include specific concentration limits, an option which had been considered by the advisory group. A likely revised version of the report was scheduled for review at the November 16th meeting and the final report remained due to the legislature by December 1st.
- Early on, WSDA staff declared the department would not put forward agency request legislation on this subject. It remained up to hemp and/or cannabis advocates to organize legislation and respond to potentially related WSLCB request legislation on Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Regulation.
