Thursday December 28th
WSDA - Public Hearing - Cannabis Testing Lab Quality Standards
On Thursday at 11am PT, Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) staff planned to host a public hearing on the Cannabis Testing Lab Quality Standards rulemaking project.

- WSDA staff announced the rulemaking effort to establish cannabis testing laboratory standards in January 2023. Team members from the Cannabis Labs Accreditation Standards Program (CLASP) developed draft conceptual rules and a method list ahead of a June 28th webinar where stakeholders raised a lot of concerns and questions around expense and implementation. Several weeks later, WSDA staff followed up with written responses to questions raised and a revised set of draft rules.
- On November 28th, CLASP team members announced the release of proposed rules in a CR-102 package and specified the date of the public hearing.
- During the December 14th WSLCB Executive Management Team meeting, Director of Legislative Relations Marc Webster offered some insight on potential request legislation from WSDA which aimed to take the lead on accreditation authority in addition to specifying quality standards for cannabis testing laboratories.
