The Board prepared for its road trip to Bothell, learned about pyrethrins, and inserted itself into a process of legal interpretation occurring in the Enforcement division.

On Saturday April 13th, HB 1794 was passed by the Senate with 39 yeas, six nays, and four absent or excused.

On Tuesday April 16th, SB 5605 was passed by the House with a vote of 68 yeas, 29 nays, and no absent or excused.

Ecology lights up the Cannabis Science Task Force, the Board meets in Bothell, WSLCB’s taxation by potency workgroup convenes, plus a QA listen and learn forum.

The Board reviewed stakeholder meetings on agency rulemaking projects and considered how to on-board an economist.

On Thursday August 22nd, the agency planned to host a second listen and learn forum for the Quality Assurance (QA) Testing and Product Requirements rulemaking project.

Director Rick Garza brought up a “really good meeting” with stakeholders the day before on the Packaging and Labeling rulemaking project (PAL) where agency staff learned more from Colorado and Oregon regulators about those jurisdiction’s PAL rules. There was general agreement that Oregon had a better program.

Board Member Russ Hauge and Director Rick Garza had just attended a work group meeting on the Cannabis Penalties rulemaking project before the caucus.

On Monday August 12th, Board Member Russ Hauge attended a work group meeting on the True Party of Interest rulemaking project (TPI). His assessment was that stakeholders were “working in a good way to get some solid solutions in the rules.”

The WSLCB was open to new approaches to regulating Washington state’s cannabis supply chain besides “seed-to-sale” traceability.
