Of 19 cannabis-related bills closely tracked, roughly half were unable or unlikely to continue being moved past fiscal committee cutoff on Monday - where the social equity bill rocked on the cusp.

Here’s a look at cannabis-related policymaking events on the calendar in the week ahead.

Monday February 22nd

Monday is the House of Origin Fiscal Committee Cutoff, the second deadline of the 2021 Washington state legislative session. The cutoff is described as the Last day to read in committee reports (pass bills out of committee and read them into the record on the floor) from House fiscal committees and Senate Ways & Means and Transportation committees in house of origin. The fiscal committees have full agendas on Monday although the Washington State House Appropriations Committee (WA House APP) opted not to meet on Saturday to hear and potentially move more bills. After Monday, attention will shift to the rules committees in each chamber and floor sessions before the House of Origin Cutoff on Tuesday March 9th.

On Thursday at 5:30pm PT, the Washington State Legislative Task Force on Social Equity in Cannabis (WA SECTF) Disproportionately Impacted Communities Work Group was scheduled to convene for the first time.
