Senators amended and passed legislation to create a framework for establishing a Washington State Cannabis Commission hours before the house of origin gateway was closed.

Three cannabis bills made it through the house of origin gateway in the final hours on Wednesday as legislators returned to policy committee work for the following three weeks.

Following the calendaring of one bill on Tuesday, four cannabis bills were positioned for action in the Senate - but time was running out before the house of origin cutoff on Wednesday at 5pm.

Senators unanimously passed a bill that may ban all CBD products in Washington state, and legislators would reconvene on Friday to potentially vote on two cannabis bills.

To ensure the safety of youth, senators unanimously agreed any amount of THC in a hemp product was too much as they amended and passed a bill to age gate products containing THC.

Two more cannabis bills were pulled out of Senate Rules, interstate was passed by senators, the schedule for next week has some surprises, and floor activity continues.

Three cannabis bills were passed in their house of origin on Tuesday, while on Wednesday senators could pull up to six cannabis bills out of Rules and potentially take action on interstate.

Cannabis-related bills were not taken up by legislators on Monday, but the social equity bill was moved out of rules, joining three other bills ready for second and third readings.
