The Week Ahead
(May 20, 2019)

The biennium budget is scheduled to be signed on Tuesday.

Here’s a look at the week ahead.

TUESDAY: Tuesday morning at 9:30am PT @ the Governor’s Conference Room, Jay Inslee is scheduled to sign HB 1109, the biennium budget. Several cannabis-related bills have dedicated appropriations in the bill in addition to the operating budgets of the agencies which regulate the plant.

On Tuesday at 10am PT @ WSLCB, the weekly Board Caucus recurs.

WEDNESDAY: On Wednesday at 1:30pm PT @ WSLCB, the three-member Board and agency leadership are scheduled to convene their weekly Executive Management Team (EMT) meeting. However, because the Board has carried forward their bi-weekly EMT cadence beyond the legislative session, it’s likely this meeting will be canceled.

THURSDAY: On Thursday at 10am PT @ WSLCB, the bi-weekly Marijuana Traceability Project (MTP) Integrator Work Session recurs.

Speaking of traceability, I’ll be kicking off the IT Symposium at the Canna WEST Summit next week with a talk titled “A History and Future of Cannabis Supply Chain Transparency, as Observed in Washington State.” The event organizers have also asked me to participate in a summit panel titled, “Advancing Track & Trace Frameworks: Tax Revenues, Anomalies, Diversion.”

Send me suggestions if there are facets of Washington’s story you’d like to see worked into my presentation and panel responses. And if you or your colleagues are interested in attending this event, here’s a registration link for 15% off.
